Fans Demand Custody of Man Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Passionate followers of Ariana Grande are calling for that a man who jumped a barrier and touched the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good launch be detained or deported from Singapore.
A circulating footage shows the Australian man pushing past camera operators and charging at Grande while the actors proceeded down a yellow carpet surrounded by supporters.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo promptly guided the surprised star away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "free after being taken in", though legal records showed that he was set to be present on the next day. It is uncertain if he was faced legal action.
History of Disruptions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a performance. His Instagram profile includes recordings of him interrupting other celebrity events, including rushing the platform at the pop singer's Sydney performance in June this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last winter.
"Measures must be taken applied against him as this is clearly a legal violation," commented an Instagram commenter, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his behavior.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" another Instagram user remarked.
Supporters Express Concern Over Ariana's Safety
Numerous followers blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had spoken of suffering from trauma-related anxiety after a devastating incident at the finale of her May 2017 show in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring hundreds.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" commented one more response on Instagram.
A number of fans also faulted guards at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while some requested online networks to block Mr Wen's uploads.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In videos shared widely, Grande looked surprised when she was approached by the intruder. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed reassuring her while Mr Wen was led out by guards.
Grande has remained silent on the event, and the premiere activities carried on uninterrupted.
Many of attendees had assembled in a mass of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good international launch in a Singapore mall, including some who had waited for as long as a significant duration before it began.
The motion picture, to be released on November 21, is the sequel of a two-part adaptation of the well-known theatrical show Wicked, which revolves around the unexpected relationship between two very different characters.
The production itself is a spin-off of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was decked out in a light pink glittering gown at the event while Erivo, who portrays the Elphaba, wore a elegant ensemble decorated with roses.
They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the top-earning film of the previous year in the UK, and scored ten award recognitions, earning two for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
