Esteemed Actor Pat Finn, Known For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Passes Away at 60 Years Old.

The actor Pat Finn had a key role in the acclaimed sitcom The Middle.

US actor Pat Finn, who featured in popular TV shows such as Friends, "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has passed away at 60 years old.

The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in LA this Monday after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, as reported by reports.

"He never met a stranger - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones stated in a message.

They noted that he had "lived his life fully - with joy and exuberance".

An Extensive TV Career

Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.

He was also seen in a regular part on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.

He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, playing a host known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.

During the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on a variety of popular shows, including:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

His most famous role for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons of the show from 2011 to 2018.

His cinematic roles include It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

Finn appeared in a couple of episodes of Friends as character Monica's partner a doctor named Roger.

A Life in Improv

Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was a professor.

He was part of a six-person improv troupe known as Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat taught, supported, and inspired countless students during his career and it would be difficult to find a person anyplace who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.

Paying homage, fellow actor Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, making those around him better and funnier. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote publicly.

Pat Finn is remembered by his partner Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
